This morning started out like a regular Sunday morning. Matthew and I woke up, got dressed and went to Church.
Copying me, Matthew genuflected before entering the pew - he's just recently started doing this and it's just the cutest thing. I said the Our Father with him and put him to sit. I said my prayers and sat beside him. We waited a little while then one of the other parishioners went up to the lectern and announced that no priest was there to say the mass.
Our regular priest has been in the U.S. for some time now so the Bishop and two other priests have been rotating and saying mass. Today, we were to have the Bishop but for some reason he didn't arrive and there was no one else available.
So, we had what they called a Communion Service. A gentleman who often helps serve communion read the mass, we had the readings, the gentleman read the gospel and blessed the communion. We sang a few songs throughout, said the final prayers, different people read the announcements and it was over.
Mass hasn't been so short in the seven years I've lived here.
It was simply the weirdest thing.
Has anything like this ever happened to you?
Cheers :-)
